Why I've Been MIA
Recovering from burnout is a lot.
Hey Buttercup,
In case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t personally sent an email out in over a month. And, well…the reason I’ve been so MIA here is because I burnt the hell out.
NGL, there have been a lot of breakdowns, tears shed (quite literally just yesterday), and heart-to-heart conversations that have happened over the past month as I’ve navigated burnout like I’ve never experienced it before and reckoned with what changes need to happen in order to move forward at a more sustainable, aligned, and life-giving pace.
We’ve been making some serious changes (you can hear more about them here on our new private podcast) and I’ve developed a whole new appreciation and level of gratitude for Lyndon and the support he shows me in both life and biz.
Since I’m quite literally in it right now, still recovering and learning what I need, I’m not writing to you from the other side of things like I have in the past. Which means I can’t tell you how the story ends yet, but I can tell you some of the things that have been helping me and share some resources that have especially hit home or inspired me in this season.
My sister and I have been sending each other a lot of butterfly videos lately (like this one). Butterflies are a symbol of transformation, hope, and rebirth (fun fact: I’m kinda into symbology in a very low-key way lol). This week her and I both have seen butterflies in our yard and seeing them emerge has been really encouraging. A reminder of the transformation that is taking place. 🦋
Anyway, I’m still struggling with knowing how to share about this season so right now I’m simply going to leave you with some resources that I’ve really been appreciating lately. I hope they’re an encouragement for you too:
This podcast with Maggie Sellers was really inspiring for me to listen to. My biggest takeaways were: it’s just as important to pay attention to what makes you feel “hot” as it is to take care of your mind and finances; as well as, how often we underestimate the power of sharing our stories with others (this one hit home for me).
Been loving watching Jess Massey’s “Clear the Cart” series on Youtube. Y’all know I’m a bookworm and watching Youtube has become a fun outlet for me to become inspired and entertained. This series has been particularly enjoyable for me!
I’ve been slowly going through this Butterfly SZN Journal and it's been incredibly helpful in helping me unlearn behaviors that are no longer serving me and see WHY I respond in those ways. It is so well thought out and I’ve been so grateful for it during this journey.
And of course, therapy has been a huge support for me. My therapist is actually who helped me see how burnt out I was & has been playing a huge role in helping me process through things and learn how to set boundaries in the areas and ways I need it. 🫶🏼
Not sure when I’ll send my next email (I’m giving myself a lot of grace these days and really leaning into doing things when I want to > not because I have to) but you can still see more of me on our Instagram @joandlyndon; so come hang out with me there if you’re not already. 🤗
Cheering for you always.
xo,
Jo
