my 7-course info diet
Since Jo already sent you a (great) long email on Wednesday introducing our new Q4 offer Your Big Shift, I figured today we’d keep it short and share my fav content from the week (1 book, 1 video, 1 podcast, 1 TV Show, 1 IG Reel, 1 email, 1 product launch).
I’m directly taking inspo from Shaan Puri’s email last week with this exact subject line where he shared his favorite content from the week (I may have tried a tv show from his list).
#1 Book
I started reading The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz.
Even though it came out 10 years ago, I’m finding parts of it relatable already since he was a CEO of a tech company during the dot com boom in the early 2000s and sometimes post-pandemic has felt like everything is falling apart as a small business owner.
This is my favorite paragraph so far.
#2 Video
One of my favorite trends is how YouTube is slowly becoming TV.
Earlier this year Nielsen reported that YouTube accounts for almost 10% of all TV watch time in March, the next closest streaming service was Netflix at 8.1%
And with that comes higher production quality 🤗. The first video I noticed it on was about a year ago when Michelle Kare published her video I Trained Like An Olympic Boxer that had HBO documentary vibes that I loved.
Late last week Peter McKinnon published this video about his experience being invited to photograph Red Bull’s airplane eclipse photo (it’s sick if you haven’t seen it).
#3 Podcast
Creators leaving established news orgs to go out on their own feels like it’s happening a lot recently (for example video journalist Becca Farsec left The Verge 3 weeks ago to go it alone).
Cleo Abrams left Vox 2 years ago to start her own YouTube channel, and she’s putting up impressive numbers (3.82M subs, consistent multi million views) on videos explaining cool tech.
I found this a really interesting podcast because she:
Talking about how the colors for her brand matters emotionally for how people see the tech she talks about
They play and break down the first 60 seconds of a video with 4+ million views to talk about how she structures her hook (did the same with a short as well)
They break down how her team of 4 collaborates
So much more
#4 TV Show
I’m late to the game, but I finally got around to The Diplomat and found it a good binge & season 2 comes next month.
#5 IG Reel
Can we just enjoy the season we’re in… 👇
#6 Email
MrBeast is a master at getting his content in front of eyeballs, apparently one of his onboarding documents called “How To Succeed In MrBeast Production” leaked this week, and Jack Appleby did a great job of summarizing how it applies to brands & marketing in his weekly email Future Social.
#7 Product Launch
DJI launched the new version of their GoPro competitor yesterday (as an owner of an osmo action, there’s some cool upgrades). And it makes me wonder, what would it look like for our business if we made launch videos like this when we created new offers. What would we hype, how would we show it, and what are the sound bites that sell units.
If you’re making major changes, launching new things, or want more personalized support in your business, we created Your Big Shift specifically for you. But we’re only opening up 3 spots for Q4, and as I’m writing 2 people have already asked about spots… we’d love to work with you. Click here to lock in your spot if there’s any left 😬*.*
Do me a solid, hit reply and tell me: what’s your favorite thing that you’ve consumed this week?

Jo just put up this banger carousel on IG breaking down our Q4 planning, not to brag, but we’ve got some exciting stuff coming up 🤫
