Setting expectations is always worth it

5 Reframes & resources we sent to our coaching clients this week

🚨Opportunity alert 🚨

Did you know it’s halfway through November?

You know what that means… BLACK FRIDAY 🤮

Next week, I’m planning on doing a round-up of Black Friday sales/deals from people in our community. If you want to be included, hit reply with these four things: 1. Title, 2. Description, 3. Link/CTA, 4. Photo for me to use. (Biz Brain Lyndon: there may be perks if we get to be an affiliate for your sale - don’t hate the player, hate the game).

This week we had so many good coaching convos with current & prospective coaching clients. Here are my top 5 (easily screenshot-able) things we shared:

#1 Downselling isn’t salesy

Context: they had a lead tell them an investment was “not in my budget” and they were “just trying to wing it:)”

I asked if she had tried down-selling them on a template, it works out to roughly 1/10th the investment of a custom website, and this was from us working through a reframe that down-selling wasn’t “salesy” but it was actually helping a genuinely interested client just at a different price point (that our client already had an offer at).

#2 How to quickly “vet” a new idea

Context: “Tell me I’m not crazy, I just came up with this idea I want to launch it for black friday…”

We’re all for quick turnaround’s as long as they’re aligned with your business!

Having a clear idea of what the purpose of your business is & what you enjoy makes it a lot easier to quickly vet if an idea is good & aligned or if it’d take some modifications to make it a good idea. We start all our Your Big Shift coaching clients with big-picture goals questions in their onboarding so that we know how to collaborate on an idea to make sure it’s aligned.

If that feels too big brain for you. Start simple - what do you want to be doing on a weekly basis 12 months from now? That becomes your vetting question: does “this new thing” bring you closer or farther from your ideal state 12 months from now?

#3 Setting expectations is always worth it

Context: We had a chemistry call with a potential coaching client and their business partner a little over a week ago. One of the things they were interested in was setting roles & responsibilities, to improve their working relationship. While they didn’t end up hiring us, we still sent over a pod & team charter exercise that we’d recommend any team or partnership go through as early in a relationship as possible. When done with the right intentions it works really well.

#4 Cool Techy Things

Context: Hayley of @afterwordsstudio is leaning into the techy side of small business software & growing her YouTube channel, so as we see relevant things we punt them her way (🤷‍♂️ perks of being a client)

On the Never Enough podcast, Andrew interviews Charlie Grinnell around the idea of building a “digital mind.” For example, Charlie “journals” while walking every morning and has software to transcribe & clean it up for him. He has software to “highlight” sections of podcasts so that he can go back, reference, and search them. He even talks about keyboard shortcuts on his Mac to do speech-to-text literally anywhere you can type.

Did you know that Apple’s Final Cut Pro 10 came out in 2011? This video from Wednesday was Apple’s announcement for Final Cut Pro 11. If you’re into video editing, I’d love to know what you’re thoughts on the new features are because, as you can see, I’m pretty excited about them 😂

#5 Creativity is a motivator

Context: One of the exercises we use to ideate content is listing out the goals that your clients have. On our coaching call the day before this message we had largely talked about Finance & Freedom based goals, but as I was starting a new book I wanted to continue the discussion we were having to add another dimension of goals that our coaching client’s client might have.

Don’t forget to submit for our black friday round-up next week - and if you want to go full Craigslist, I’ll even allow “in search of” posts. (aka: If you’re looking for a black Friday deal for something specific and looking for recommendations.)

Ps: you can use this link to schedule a FREE chemistry call to talk through where you’re at and see if we’re the right coaches for you.

Pps: if you like cheap stuff Amazon launched Haul this week, their competitor to Temu & AliExpress - in case any of us needed more $5-10 things shipped directly from China…
